LOGAN - The first phase of Riley Nelson’s football career at Utah State ended 45 minutes early Saturday. After a rugged start during New Mexico State’s 42-20 win at Romney Stadium, coach Brent Guy pulled Nelson in favor of Leon Jackson III at the end of the first quarter. Nelson, the true freshman who took over from Jackson midway through the season, did not return.
